Who are the members of the Medical Review Commission?
The Medical Review Commission will consist of three (3) professions with legal and medical (medical doctors) background and familiarity with performance-enhancing drugs. Games Cologne will announce the respective names three (3) months prior to the opening of GGVIII.
The Federation of Gay Games will send one person as observer to this Commission.
How will the Medical Review Commission use the information in my medical file?
The information in your medical file will be used to compare the results of your drug test with the treatment prescribed by your medical practitioner. The Medical Review Commission will look at any prohibited substances detected in your sample, and compare them with the substances (and when possible, the quantities) expected to be found on the basis of the prescriptions provided.
What date is accepted as validity date for the medical file?
The medical file must not be older than 3 months prior to GGVIII opening; in other words it has to be issued April 30, 2010 or later.
What do I do if I have questions regarding the substances mentioned in the WADA list?
If you are uncertain if the medicines you take are covered by the WADA list, consult your medical practitioner for advice .
Which kind of samples will be taken?
For the most part basically urine samples will be taken. A limited number of blood tests may also be carried out.
Where are the samples taking facilities?
The central facility will be in the Netcologne Stadion (Track and Field venue) in the center of the Sportpark Muengersdorf, where almost 50% of all sports will take place. For other venues, individual arrangements will be made.
When will the athlete be informed about test results?
In most cases of urine testing the results will be available within a week; blood test results may last a bit longer. This may mean that test results will be available only after the closing of GGVIII only. Athletes willthen be formed by e-mail of their results.
Will my medical file be treated confidentially?
Confidentiality and due respect for privacy will be maintained at all times.
I am registered for a cultural event; will I be tested too?
No, only persons registered for a Gay Games VIII sport may be tested.
Who will be tested in my sport?
Most participants will be chosen at random. A certain number of tests may be reserved for medal winners.

Go to the WADA website (www.wada-ama.org) and click on “links” for national anti-doping agencies.
When are the lists of prohibited substances updated?
Those lists are generally updated January each year.
What about over-the-counter medicine?
Over-the-counter medicine (non prescription drugs) and other products such as creams, nutritional supplements, “natural” and “herbal” products and other products may all contain prohibited substances. Note that only substances prescribed by licensed physicians can be taken into account by the Medical Review Commission, so care must be taken with other types of products.
