Description
The Melaten cemetery is an open history book: We find information about famous and unknown women from Cologne with both pompous and unpretentious graves, about the roles of the 19 Century and the role of women as mourners. We meet the founder Laura Oelbermann here, whose wealth was proverbial, the "second female museum director from Germany" and the famous nun, that merchandised the "Klosterfrau Melissengeist brand". On the tour, we report on the responsibility of the woman for the death, thematise the question of the "Beyond of women" and the history of the cemetery.
