The sixth season? Christopher Street Day
Every German child knows that there are five seasons in Cologne. The Carnival turns this fact upside down in Cologne. Cologne is a highly stylized, especially gay metropolis, committed to the worldwide-celebrated Carnival of Christopher Street Day (CSD), during each midsummer. Since 1991 the CSD-Parade became firmly established as the highlight of the yearly events in Cologne’s city event agenda. CSD is like a magnet to the public, which brings up to a million spectators and is thereby somewhat popular as the Rose Monday parade of Carnival. Next to the parade exhibition of the Gays and Lesbians, you will find booths, stages, activities and events are organized all over the old town of Cologne. CSD gives more than the community spirit and the naturalness of living openly gay and lesbian; this event also serves the funding of AIDS-Help. In addition to the many fun events, CSD aims to also show society as a policy that we exist!... and how we exist!
