A treat for eyes and ears – Kölner Lichter 2010
Can you arrange to be in Cologne 14 days before the opening of the VIII. Gay Games 2010? If so, then you can participate on one of the highlights of the Cologne Events Calendar: The Kölner Lichter (Cologne Lights), which take place on 17 July this year. Brilliant, gorgeous fireworks will be ignited to music composed especially for the event. Since 2001, this event has been conducted annually and celebrates its 10th anniversary this year. On both sides of the Rhine between Hohenzollern and Zoo-Bridges tribunes will be constructed. To complement the lighting spectacular, music from different genres is played from 25 broadcast towers synchronised to the fireworks. The main fireworks are fired from pontoons on the Rhine and traditionally begin at 11:30pm and last for around 30 minutes. A particularly special experience is to enjoy the fireworks from one of the many pleasure boats. And for all those who cannot make it on 17 July, the event is broadcast live on television (and internet) from 8:15pm until midnight on the WDR channel, so that you can become acquainted with Cologne before the Gay Games.
