Sport: Powerlifting
"In 1998 I had the most wonderful, magical experience, one that changed my life forever. Walking into Ajax Stadium, the opening ceremony, the Friendship Village, lifting a weight competitively for the first time and walking away from my first Games with a shiny silver medal in my hand”!
Chris is unique in having begun his career in a sport at the Gay Games and later moving on to world class competition. He made his competitive debut in the 1998 Amsterdam Gay Games with a silver medal, then following up with a gold medal in 2002 at Sydney's Gay Games VI.
In 2004 Chris was catapulted into the international rankings with a silver medal finish in the World Drug-Free Powerlifting Championships in Atlanta. He has since won World Championship Gold in Turin (2005), Bronze in Kinsale (2006) and Silver at the World Championship Single Event in Antwerp (2008).
He continued his success at the Gay Games with four gold medals in Gay Games VII Chicago (2006). Chris is set to return to international level competition this year and is in training for the WDFPF European and World Championships. He’s looking forward to participating once again in the Gay Games in Cologne.
