Water polo is the perfect symbiosis for all fans of handball, rugby and water sports. The goal for both teams is to get the ball into the opposing goal at the end of the pool. Aside from stamina, speed and the right stroke, team play is crucial in the team's success.
We are expecting about 200 athletes for the water polo events at the Gay Games VIII Cologne 2010. They will be held at the Muengersdorf Sportpark and at the Humboldt School pool.
The match structure is very simple. All teams play in a large "Open-Division" and every team can consist of men and women. A women's division will be formed with at least three women-only teams. All participants must produce a national tournament license for water polo.
Swim caps to identify the teams will be provided, all other swimming equipment must be brought along.
