Ranging from the delicate, attractive light-weight right up to the absolute muscle machine
On Sunday 1st August the power lifting competition took place. The oldest male participant was the Australian Robert Power, who certainly lived up to his name, and the oldest female was the attractive US American Cheryl “Shelly” Keeling.
The audience was already fascinated by the athletes’ various preparations. The self motivation ranged from respectful bowing in front of the apparatus to loud cries to spur themselves on.
The bench press began with 40kg and went right up to 182.5kg. A weight that the US American David-Todd Hafner lifted with ease. The Brit Dominic Patmore was met with admiration and yells of support from the audience. After his second successful attempt the question resounded through the hall: “Dominic, when is your warm-up actually finished?” Besides the earnestness of the competition there is plenty of room for fun!
