The swimmers centre is prepared for the big presentation
Accompanied by music and the rhythmic clapping of the spectators, the high divers and the jury enter. They gather at the edge of the pool to greet the spectators. After the announcer has presented each athlete by name, young high divers from Cologne present various show jumps. They are having a lot of fun and enjoy the great scenery. High divers jump from different heights into the pool. All is spiced with many turns and screws. But most important is the plunging into the water: Who spurts, has lost.

Adolf Klöver, three time World-Champion receives thunderous applause. From Sweden he brought home 3 Gold Medals. He´s very proud of this, as he is already 85 years old and he started high diving late – like “20 – 25” years ago. But he isn´t nervous at all. Starting here it´s a home match for him.

“Now I am doing the Seven”, he promises before his second jump. What he means is the rating of the referees, which ranges from 0 to 10 points. From the one meter board he dives forward into the pool. “Seven, Six, Six, Six and a half, Six and a half” it sounds from the loudspeaker short after.
There aren´t many competitors at his age. That doesn´t run his performance down. It is top. “Somebody should try to imitate me” It´s like it is. After four rounds he is satisfied with his jumps and happy that he again managed “not to fall on his belly”.
