Cologne, Germany, June 18, 2009.
The preparations for Gay Games VIII Cologne 2010 reached a new milestone: the organisers of the event which will attract 12,000 participants are looking for a suitable theme song.
Composers worldwide are asked to contribute their work to the “songwriting contest” for the future theme song for Gay Games VIII Cologne 2010. “We would like to involve the gay and lesbian community in the process and hope to tap their artistic resources”, says Andrea Mueller, manager of event & culture Gay Games VIII Cologne 2010, “our motto ‘Be part of it!’ should certainly be included in the song and will become reality at the Games. That is because everyone can participate in the Gay Games. The criteria for the selection of the song will not include references of the author – but solely the composition itself. The song is expected to transport emotion, electrify, create a fantastic atmosphere and cause goose bumps.”
An internal board of experts will choose the top five of all the compositions submitted for a grand finale. A live event will be held to select the winner by a panel of celebrities both from the field of culture and from the gay and lesbian community, in addition to a vote of the audience.
