The program includes many opportunities to get to know Cologne, its cultural attractions and its people. There’s the “Rhenish Extravaganza” for example, where visitors will get a taste of the Karneval (Mardi Gras) celebration that has made Cologne famous. Boat cruises allow you to explore the environs of Cologne, and guided city tours provide an insight into the history of the city, founded 2000 years ago as a Roman colony.

opening and
closing ceremonies. On July 31 the 12,000 active participants will enter the stadium to celebrate the opening of the Gay Games VIII along with top international starts. One week later they all get together again to say goodbye to Cologne and start preparing for the next Gay Games!
