VIII. Gay Games Cologne 2010

On July 16 the “volunteer shop” for the Gay Games opened its doors. Volunteers can get information and later on pick up their accreditation papers here. Also available at the shop under the Zeppelinstrasse are tickets for the opening ceremony at the RheinEnergieStadium. The shop spotlights the Gay Games especially to the public in Cologne. The shop is open Monday thru Saturday from 12 pm till 8 pm. The program for the worldwide biggest sports and cultural event is available there too. So far, 1,500 volunteers have signed up for the Gay Games. To guarantee smooth running of the 35 sports and 5 cultural events, 3,000 volunteers are needed.

Helping out for just one day – that´s enough to sign up as a volunteer. The helpers can choose among 300 different jobs listed on the internet, and can also sign up with friends for the same shifts. As a thank you, volunteers will receive a welcome package with a T-Shirt, plus there will be a big party for all volunteers besides. At this party, a weekend trip to a 7 star hotel in Bonn will be given away, in addition to other prizes.

The Gay Games start on July 31 with a spectacular opening ceremony at the stadium. The nearly 3 hour program contains appearances of the pop singer Agnes, soul singer Taylor Dayne, drum artists, fire artists, and several hundred extras will offer a breathtaking show.
